Amboseli is at the heart of Kenyan and Tanzanian Savannah. Christened the "Land of Giants", the National Park is known for elephants and other Big 5 animals. What makes the Amboseli a favored holiday destination is the open plain. Tourists can see the wildlife from a distance, thanks to the plain fields. The Park also hosts a lot of other savannah animals and creates incredible game experiences.
The most popular animals at Amboseli are elephants, zebra, wildebeest, and Buffalos. The climate favors their existence. Other common animals include giraffes, hippos (water points), hyenas, and lions. Birds are also a significant spectacle, thanks to ample climate. Although rare, some of the cat family members (cheetah and leopard) can be seen at night. Plan what you want to see, and adjust according to their routine.
Climatic conditions are similar in Kenya, which projects a similar high season across the country. However, the savannah climate of the Amboseli is favorable and expands the high season. The ideal time to visit the Park is between December and March. However, for a great wildlife experience, consider June to September and January to February.
From December to March, the weather is conducive for outdoor gaming. April to May and November have an average occupancy, thanks to rainfall. Afterward, June to October is also an excellent time to visit the Park as it is dry. In essence, any time is a good time for a game drive in the Park.
